It's time to get to know your internet marketing team a little bit better!
Our "Meet The Team" blog series continues! In order to help you get to know our internet marketing team better, we're interviewing each of our staff one at a time. Over the past few months, we have introduced you to the owners of MSW Interactive Designs, Mike and Sandy Waggett, and team members Keith Lucas, Erin Burdette, Bailey Puppel, Deanna Powell, Laurel Leurquin, and Kristina Keeling. This week, we're continuing the series by introducing you to one of our Social Media Coordinators, Karen Horsman.
Q: What brought you to the Lake of the Ozarks?
A: I moved to the Lake of the Ozarks the day I graduated high school, and never left! I grew up around lakes on family vacations and weekend getaways — I always loved boating & playing in the water all day! I relocated to the area to be close to family and to attend college.
Q: How did you get started in the internet marketing field?
A: Since graduating with a degree in marketing from Columbia College, I fell in love with marketing in school and couldn’t wait to learn more! The internet side of marketing has always piqued my interest, and now I’m fully immersed in the field and learn more and more each day.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: Well for starters, I love the group of people I get to work with every day. It truly is a great team environment. I’ve always been a creative person, and being a social media coordinator at MSW Interactive Designs allows my creative juices to flow on a daily basis.
Q: What's your favorite thing to do when you're not at work?
A: I love spending time with family and being outside! Whether it’s hanging out by the water in the summer or going for walks, I love enjoying nature.
Q: Who's your family?
A: My husband, Cory, and I have been married for two years. We have a beautiful dog, Gabbie, whom we adopted from Dogwood Animal Shelter. She has brought so much joy and entertainment into our lives – best decision ever! We are also expecting our first baby in October!
Q: What did you want to be when you grew up?
A: Honestly, this is one of my least favorite questions to be asked… I really struggled with this question when deciding what to do with my life. When I was younger, I never remember wanting to be a certain profession. There comes a certain point in your life where you are encouraged to figure out what your calling is. For a while I tossed around family counselor and dental hygienist. After I started taking business classes, I fell in love with marketing.
Q: What's something that very few people know about you?
A: I’m taking it back a few years, but when I was in high school, I was on the twirling squad. For half-time of a football game, we lit our batons and twirled fire!
Q: What's on your bucket list?
A: My bucket list items are travel-related. I want to visit Colorado (I’ve never been!) and I REALLY want to swim with dolphins!
Q: What is your favorite social media platform and why?
A: There are features I like about all of the social media platforms, but I use Pinterest and Facebook the most. I like to keep up with friends and family on Facebook, but Pinterest is probably where I spend more time! I like to organize craft ideas, home inspirations, recipes, and so much more!
Q: Who inspires you?
A: There are a lot of people who inspire me, but mainly my family! My husband is so passionate and is one of the hardest workers I know. No matter what task he’s up against, he goes above and beyond! My mom is also a huge inspiration in my life. She has set such a great example of a kind, well-rounded person.
