This week, we're continuing the series by introducing our Social Media Manger, Erin Burdette.

Q:  What brought you to the Lake of the Ozarks?
A:  I was actually born in Osage Beach, but grew up in the small town of Lincoln, MO, a little over an hour away from the Lake Area. My dad is from this area and in 2008 he bought a vacation rental business here. After graduating high school in 2009, I began working for him during the summer months when I wasn’t in college. Upon my college graduation, he offered me a full-time position with the company and I took it – and boy am I glad I did! About 6 months later, I met Mike and Sandy and ended up landing a job at MSW!

Q:  How did you get started in the internet marketing field?
A:  As a freshman in college, I knew I wanted to go into the marketing field. During my junior year at the University of Central Missouri in Warrensburg, my favorite teacher introduced me to the head of the Small Business and Technology Development Center on campus. I got hired to their team and worked with other students on websites and social media development for various clients in the community. That’s when I knew internet marketing was definitely the route I wanted to go! After that, I ended up landing an internship with an advertising agency in Lexington, MO, where I continued learning about website design and social media marketing, while also enhancing my writing skills.

Q:  What do you like most about your job?
A:  I LOVE my job! While it’s hard to choose just one thing I like most, I would have to say the work environment. The sense of family that my bosses have created within this company is amazing! Never before have I come across coworkers that genuinely care as much as this group, and in addition, that are such hard workers. We have a lot of fun here, and there’s rarely a dull moment. Unlike jobs in the past, it’s not often that I have a day where I dread coming into work. I couldn’t have asked for a better group of people to work with or work for!

Q:  What’s your favorite thing to do when you’re not at work?
A:  One of my favorite things to do while not at work is crafting. While it used to be mostly scrapbooking, I have recently ventured into the world of vinyl. I have a Cricut (home die-cutting machine) and in the past year have been going crazy making projects. My favorite projects currently include making custom T-shirts. I purchased a heat press over the summer and decided to make all my Christmas gifts this past year. While it was fun, it was not an easy task – very time consuming!

Q:  Who’s your family?
A:  Between my mom's and my dad’s sides, I have a total of 6 brothers. My mom has two boys ages 16 and 20. My dad has 3 boys ages 9, 14 and 17. I also have a step-brother that’s the same age as me, just 10 days younger, who has a wife and a beautiful 2 year old! As for me, I’m still single with no children for now!

Q:  What did you want to be when you grew up?
A:  As many girls would probably say, I really wanted to be a pop star when I grew up. I have always loved music and singing. I can remember running around the house dressing up in sparkly clothes and singing along to Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera. During a show choir performance at State Fair Community College, I told my mom I wanted to be a “sparkly girl.” (Years later, my dream came true when I auditioned for the swing choir and made it in!) As I got a little older, I decided I wanted to be a teacher. While I did substitute teach some during my college years, it’s not something I think I would enjoy doing on a daily basis.

Q:  What’s on your bucket list?
A:  Traveling the world is at the top of my list! My biggest passion is international travel. From experiencing new cultures to trying new foods, I love everything about it. My first experience abroad was a spring break trip in 2010 to England and Scotland. After that, I was hooked! I spent a semester abroad in Germany and traveled to a variety of other European countries while there. Since then, I have taken a couple other trips, and have a huge bucket list of other places I want to travel to. It’s too hard to choose just one place for the top of my list, but among the top of the list would be Australia, Italy, Greece and Iceland. My life goal is to see as much of the world as I can!

Q:  What is your favorite social media platform and why?
A:  While choosing a favorite social media platform is hard, I would have to go with Facebook! Instagram is a close second. The variety of things you can do on Facebook is amazing, and it’s a great way for me to keep in touch with all my friends from around the world! I also love taking pictures – and my Instagram photos usually get posted to Facebook as well. I love scrolling through my feed and seeing what everyone has been up to. I use it for everything from chatting with friends to searching for new ideas, like craft projects and recipes. (Which reminds me, Pinterest would probably be in line after Instagram.) I honestly just love social media – maybe a little too much!
