GET TO KNOW US - Meet Sandy Waggett

It's time to get to know your internet marketing team a little bit better!

At MSW Interactive Designs, we deeply value our clients' trust and make a point of earning it on an ongoing basis. We know that an important part of earning that trust involves taking the time to get to know our clients, and allowing our clients to get to know us in return. Over the next few months, we will be using our blogs to introduce our team members in detail so you can get to know our internet marketing professionals just a little bit better. This week, we're kicking it off with none other than the woman who started it all - Owner Sandy Waggett!

Q:  What brought you to the Lake of the Ozarks?
A:  My husband, Mike, retired from the US Air Force after 24 years of service and asked where I wanted to go. My parents divorced when I was three and my entire life I never lived near my dad. I chose the Lake because he was here and my mom was living in nearby St. Louis. My dad passed away three short years after we moved here, so I believe it was the best decision of my life.

Q:  How did you get started in the internet marketing field?
A:  I left my job with BAE Systems/Lockheed Martin as a Senior Engineer building web-based training applications for US Space Command in 2000. Mike’s new Air Force assignment took him to Knoxville, TN. Not finding a truly comparable job there, I decided to work full-time on what had previously been a side business.

Q:  What do you like most about your job?
A:  I love that we help small businesses build a large and effective presence online. I love watching our clients’ businesses grow. And I really love that we have such long-term relationships with most of our clients. Many of my first clients from my “web design side business” in Colorado Springs are still my clients today. I take a lot of pride in that.

Q:  What’s your favorite thing to do when you’re not at work?
A:  I love my early morning walks every day with my dog, Charly. It’s me time. On the weekends, I love to golf. Oh, and I love red wine too!

Q:  Who is your family?
A:  My husband, Mike, and my two dogs, Charly and Maddie. Also, my mom, Jane, and step-dad, Duane, who also work for the business…  Additionally, I have a large step and “half” family. Step-mother, Connie Wardenburg plus one half-sister, two half-brothers, four step-sisters, and one step-brother.

6.  What did you want to be when you grew up?
A:  I wanted to be a Veterinarian after reading All Creatures Great and Small in elementary school. I have a weak stomach, though. I can’t handle the sight of blood and other stuff, so that wouldn’t have worked out very well.

Q:  What’s something that very few people know about you?
A:  I “rescued” a terrapin during a visit to my Dad’s at the Lake of the Ozarks when I was around 8 and then snuck it on the plane back to Las Vegas. My grandmother worked at the carry on screening station at the St. Louis airport at the time, so I had an accomplice. My mom was not pleased. ;-) His name was Noodles and he was my buddy. He ate right of out my hand, came right over to me when he saw me, and he truly enjoyed his turtle rubs.

Q:  What’s on your bucket list?
A:  I don’t have one. I want to live on the beach one day, so if that counts, let’s go with that.

Q:  Who inspires you?
A:  My dad inspired me. My mom inspires me. My husband inspires me. My team inspires me. Nature inspires me.

Q:  What is your favorite social media platform and why?
A:  Facebook for keeping up with friends and family. Pinterest for inspirational quotes and food ideas.
