7 Reasons to Use Instagram for Your Business

Instagram is one of the fastest growing social media networks out there. Unlike other social media platforms, Instagram's focus is primarily on pictures, which users seem to be loving! Is Instagram currently a part of your internet marketing plan? If not, our social media marketing company at the Lake of the Ozarks is here to try to convince you otherwise.

1. People Spend A LOT of Time on Instagram.

Instagram has over 300 million active monthly users. Aside from Facebook, internet users spend more time on Instagram than any other social media network. According to Econsultancy.com, the average Instagram user spends 21 minutes per day using the app. On an average day, those users hit the "like" button 2.5 billion times. People are on Instagram, and if you want to do business with those people, you should consider getting on Instagram as well.

2. Instagram Gives You the Ability to Enhance Your Brand Through Visual Content.

You've heard the saying a picture is worth 1,000 words, and that definitely rings true on Instagram. The platform is based entirely on visual content, and while you can add a caption and use hashtags, the image is really where your brand comes across. Visual content continues to dominate the social media industry in terms of engagement. By regularly posting visual content about your business to Instagram, you can increase your brand awareness and in a way, control how people see your business through images.

3. Instagram Doesn't Filter Their Feeds.

Unlike with Facebook, when you post something on Instagram, it shows up in every one of your followers feeds. You don't have to spend money to get your message in front of the people who chose to follow you already. While your content could still get lost in the changing stream of content, as long as you're posting regularly, your content has a pretty high chance of getting seen. You don't have to worry about an algorithm throwing your post aside. Plus, if you're using hashtags, you're more likely to get discovered by even non-followers with the explore function.

4. Instagram Allows You To Get Personal with Customers.

People want to do business with people. While Facebook has grown into this giant advertising medium, Instagram is still somewhat new for businesses. However, it's important that those business who are on Instagram try to stay as personal as possible and avoid those pushy sales tactics that we're starting to see on Facebook everyday. Instagram is a place where businesses can show behind-the-scenes and real-time content about what's going on with their business. Create a personality and feel for your brand.

5. Instagram's Conversion Rates are High in Comparison.

When compared to other popular social networking sites, Instagram has one of the highest conversion rates. While direct sales aren't the primary benefit of using social media, it's always great when it works that way. According to Shopify, the rate at which Instagram visitors go on to make a purchase when visiting a site is 1.08%, which means that for every 100 visitors that find your site through Instagram, one will make a purchase. While that may not seem like a lot, it's still the 4th highest among social networking sites.

6. Mobile is Dominating Technology Right Now.

More and more people are accessing the internet from their phones these days, and the majority of that access is through apps. While Facebook and Twitter were developed as browser-based platforms first, Instagram has always been geared towards mobile users. Have you ever tried accessing it from a desktop? You'll find that the desktop version is not very user friendly and does not have all the same functions as the mobile app. With mobile usage on its way to overtaking desktop usage, you want to make sure your marketing is on board.

7. Brand Engagement Rates are Highest on Instagram.

According to Forrester, who analyzed more than 3 million user interactions with more than 2,500 brand posts on seven social networks, found that Instagram had a 4.21% brand engagement rate. This rate was higher than both Facebook and Twitter, which both came in below 0.1%. This means that Instagram delivered brands 58 times more engagement per followers than Facebook and 120 times more engagement per follower than Twitter. Now we're not saying to stop posting on Facebook or Twitter, but you should consider diversifying your social media marketing efforts.
