7 Tricks to Take Your Social Media Campaign to the Next Level

Many businesses, small and large, are starting to realize the importance of social media and how it can help you grow your business. Just doing Facebook however, isn't enough. A combination of social media channels working together with your website is key. Here are 7 tips to take your social media campaign to the next level:

1. Spice Up Your Headlines

I could have titled this blog "Ways to Improve Your Social Media," but I didn't. Instead I chose something a little catchier, something that would draw the customer in and make them want to read it. What are these tricks that she is talking about? Headlines are the first thing that someone sees and if you don't grab their attention right away, chances are they won't even make it to the end of your blog. Headlines aren't just for blogs though, you can use them in your posts too! For example using Testimonial Tuesday or Travel Tip #1 in all caps at the beginning of your post is a great way to make your posts stand out among others. Here are some things you could try incorporating into your next headline:
  • Provide a clear and tangible benefit. What are they going to get from reading your blog.
  • Use numbered headlines. They can describe a list or say that something is #1.
  • Don't make them too long or too short!

2. Add Video to the Mix

While YouTube has been around for a while now, the use and engagement on the platform has exploded. Pictures aren't enough anymore; people want to see videos! You don't have to be an expert videographer to incorporate video into your social media marketing mix. A simple cellphone video, as long as its not shaky, will do the trick. Try videoing your best clients while they give you a testimonial or answer a frequently asked question in a short 30 second video. You can even create a video with still images using an online program, such as Animoto.

3. Invest in a Facebook Ad Budget

Over the last year, we have seen the organic reach of our clients' posts decrease dramatically. Now we are recommending a Facebook ad budget to all of our new social media clients. By spending just a few dollars on each of your posts, you can increase your reach substantially. Plus, the more people that see your post, the more engagement you're likely to get.

4. Engage Your Customers

Just putting out content that you think is relevant isn't going to cut it. How are you going to keep your customers interested? Listen to what people are saying about you and respond to them! Reply to any comments or shares you get on posts. If someone gives you a good review, be sure to thank them. If people are asking for answers to a specific question, provide the answer. Not only to you want to be a resource, you also want to be personable.

5. Provide a Call-To-Action (CTA)

While you may already be using calls to action on your website and in your blog, the same principal applies to all your social media channels. Think about what you want to get from each post that you create. Do you want the viewer to give you a call? Do you want them to visit your website? Or are you just providing information to them. Choose a goal for your post and use an appropriate call-to-action when needed.

6. Incorporate Hashtags

Using hashtags, especially on Twitter, is a great way to increase visibility on your posts. Take a look at what is trending and see if there is a way you can incorporate something into one of your posts. The keywords you use are important because they need to be relevant to your content. People who have never heard of your brand can stumble upon you when they search for that term. Therefore, interesting, relevant keywords is important. The rules for hashtags are different for each platform though, so be sure to follow these guidelines:
  • Facebook - Posts with a bunch of hashtags can actually be seen as spam. Those with 0-1 hashtag typically outperform those loaded with them.
  • Twitter - Using 2-3 relevant hashtags will get you more traffic than a dozen will.
  • Instagram - This platform is the place to go wild with hashtags! Use as many as you want!

7. Hire a Social Media Guru

The best way to make sure you're getting the most out of your social media campaign is to hire a professional. The world of social media is constantly evolving and the rules are changing. By hiring a professional to handle your social media marketing campaign, you can ensure that the strategy you're using is up-to-date.
